IAB (International Accreditation Bureau) is the worldwide accepted association of CAAB (Conformity Assessment Accreditation Bodies) and other parties who are interested or involved in delivering services related to management systems, products, services, personnel and other similar programmes of conformity assessment. IAB is focused on developing and improving a program having worldwide acceptance delivering a trust to the customers about the authenticity of the internationally accepted standards and thereby providing worldwide acceptance.
IAB ensures that the CAAB operating under IAB are impartial towards their services and harmony towards accreditation requirements is meant worldwide. The purpose of IAB since the date of establishment has been to deliver the trust to the customers that conformity assessment bodies are impartial in their services.
IAB works on strict policy of enlisting CAAB (Conformity Assessment Accreditation Bodies) across the globe. IAB monitors and ensures through its policies that the CAAB complies towards the national and international laws and verification mechanism towards management systems, products, services, personnel and other similar programmes of conformity assessment.
Main purpose behind establishment and growth of IAB has been its clear policy of responsibilities towards approving accreditation board. IAB ensures this policy with true ethics and sense of seriousness related to the approval. IAB binds the Accreditation Board legally to ensure that the accreditation is provided only to those CAB who are found competent do the work and in anyways no conflict of interest is involved into it. Certificates issued under IAB accreditation boards are accepted worldwide and the authenticity can be verified from any part of the world and thereby reducing risk to business.
IAB mechanism is to provide an edge towards international trade for companies registered under accredited certification from any part of the world and having acceptance for the accredited certificate worldwide.
IAB works to find the most effective way of achieving a single system that will allow companies with an accredited conformity assessment certificate in one part of the world, to have that certificate recognised else where in the world. The objective of the MLA is that it will cover all accreditation bodies in all countries in the world, thus eliminating the need for suppliers of products or services to be certified in each country where they sell their products or services.
